Meet MMC resident Ed Noyalis

Meet MMC resident Ed Noyalis

Meet MMC resident Ed Noyalis. He joined the Navy with hopes of traveling around the world. But in actuality, he saw more of the world through his love of ceramics, a hobby that began at the age of 12. He opened and operated a ceramics studio for 20 years and then taught seminars, which allowed him to travel across the United States, as well as internationally to countries such as Canada, Australia, and Venezuela. He also used his voice as an artistic medium, doing voice-over work for radio and tv commercials in Philadelphia and NJ. Ed also regularly appeared on Bandstand and event met Dick Clark. Read the full resident spotlight on Ed in our latest issue of the LampPost on page 10-11, click here.

Meet MMC Resident Artist Beth Fowler!

Meet MMC Resident Artist Beth Fowler!

It’s a beautiful day to meet one of the neighbors at Moravian Manor Communities!

Beth, one of MMC’s resident artists, first got serious about composing art in 2012. Attending classes at the York Art Association, she credits her excellent teachers for helping her learn and look at things in a different light…expanding her approach and technique.

Her true love is painting, and she has a natural affinity for working with pastels. When she’s painting, “Time passes pleasantly. My thoughts travel new paths, and when I’m done, I feel satisfied, if not with the product, then with the process. When someone sincerely likes the art piece, then I know the painting connected with them personally.”

Several years ago, Beth decided to be “the cat painter,” but “a dog or two has slipped in,” she teases. Zoe, her and her husband’s cat, serves for inspiration.

Today, Beth’s art has been exhibited in galleries, businesses, churches, wineries, boutiques, and other venues across Pennsylvania, as well as in Maryland. People describe her work as “engaging, energetic, and fresh.” She’s also won awards and has been granted entry in several juried exhibits.

To see more of Beth’s work, visit her Facebook page at #bethfowlerart or at the Lititz Art Association Fresh Start exhibit and sale.

First Annual Egg Drop Goes Egg-ceptionally Well

First Annual Egg Drop Goes Egg-ceptionally Well

Eggs-tra Eggs-tra…read all about it! Residents of Moravian Manor Communities (MMC) participated in the first Annual Egg Drop contest on the Warwick Woodlands campus Thursday, April 8th. Participants were encouraged to divide up into groups and get to work. Participating teams included:

  • JM and the Peeps
  • Bunch of Malarkeys
  • Egg-cellence
  • Eggstrordinaires
  • Moravian Avenue Marvels
  • Over Easy
  • The Flying Freggericks
  • J-PED
  • Humpty Dumpty’s Revenge

Very specific guidelines were issued in terms of materials that could be used, and participants could not provide their own egg. A fully inspected and approved raw egg was provided to each team who then had 30 minutes to “scramble” together an egg protecting contraption. At eggs-actly 4:00 pm, the participants and spectators converged on the Woods apartment building. There was a competitive spirit in the air as with some people holding signs in support of their favorite teams.

Finally, the moment arrived…event MC and Director of Community Services, Jennifer Shutt, announced each team and asked them to introduce themselves and describe the egg dropping apparatus that they had masterfully created. Some teams even prepared a team chant! Yes, the “steaks” were high (seriously, what goes better with eggs?), as the winning team would receive a private cocktail party on the Tree Top Terrace.

One by one, Jennifer dropped each creation as onlookers held their breath in anticipation of the outcome. Upon the last egg drop and inspected outcome, Jennifer declared, “everyone is a winner…a cocktail party for all!”

Congratulations, and many thanks to our teams who entered the competition with an egg-venturous attitude. No yolking around…everyone had an eggs-cellent time!
