Being able to continue gardening was a big factor for resident Elaine Fulmer when choosing to move to Moravian Manor Communities. “I love gardening and am able to have a perennial flower and herb garden around my carriage home, as well as a vegetable plot in the community garden. The green thumb runs in my family … grandparents down to my sister and I. I love the alone time, serenity, and nurturing of plants. As well, I enjoy the camaraderie of the community garden. We take care of each other’s plots when someone goes on vacation or visit with family. Although I know a lot about flowers, my new friends in the community garden are helping me expand my knowledge about growing vegetables. I went from basic tomato, cucumber, green beans and zucchini last year to sugar peas, watermelon, radishes, scallions, Swiss chard, broccoli, bok choy and delicata squash this year.  I love sharing the bounty with my neighbors. We even have a compost pile like I did at home! I also love to cook, so having an herb garden off my patio is great, and I love looking out the sunroom window at the ever-changing perennial flower display.  My neighbors know they can always find me outdoors digging in the dirt here or there.”
