Poems and Harps for the Soul

Poems and Harps for the Soul

Longest Day 2024 Special Program

Friday, June 21 at 2 pm

Recognizing the Longest Day 2024, “Poems and Harps for the Soul” will be performed by Audrey Kuhn, a Lancaster County poet, at MMC (300 W. Lemon Street, Lititz) in Steinman Hall on Friday, June 21 at 2 pm.

The Longest Day is observed on the summer solstice – the day with the most light – to represent shedding light in the fight against the darkness of Alzheimer’s disease.

Audrey’s original poetry will be complemented by the voices and harps of Cass Jendzurski, harpist and professional certified health care musician, and student and friend Pam Currie.

This program is a journey into Alzheimer’s disease, faith, and grief. Audrey began writing poetry while supporting her beloved husband, the late Bob “Mike” Kuhn, who struggled with Alzheimer’s disease for 12 years until his death in early 2022.

The program is free and open to the public. Seating is limited.

Bonnie Larzelere, Social Services

“Bonnie exemplifies what every family member hopes and needs in a social worker,” shared a resident’s family member. “When our mother was placed in a unit that we did not choose, Bonnie was the calm voice and the steady ‘rudder’ telling us that her door is always open. She is an excellent problem solver and uses a network of connections to assist with problems that are difficult to resolve.”

“Compassion is what guides Ms. Larzelere’s work, for the family and most certainly for the resident. She was an instrumental part of a team that worked to ensure that my mother could travel to both my brother’s home, and her and dad’s A-frame cottage, in Perry County. Mother had the best time and recalled places and people. We are forever grateful! If space permitted, the examples of Bonnie’s compassion for our mother and our entire family would fill this page!”

Thank you, Bonnie, for being a part of the team and helping to make MMC a great place to live and work.

“I decided to nominate Jon and Yvonne as a team! Both of these aides work hard and never complain. They are so incredibly pleasant to work with…so much so that residents ask for them by name. I appreciate their hard work and dedication and the spirit in which they do it.

The Health Center 3-11 CNA team is out of this world! We are lucky to have you. “

Marian does all she can to accommodate the residents and provide person centered service. Recently, to ensure that a resident received the care that they needed, Marian volunteered to work on her day off to transport a resident to an appointment that couldn’t be scheduled during the week.
